2. "Babylon and On" is not a classic along the lines of Squeeze's masterpiece "East Side Story," but it is a very good pop album. The songs are consistently well-written, the production is crisp and has aged well, and band is in fine form. Certainly recommended for Squeeze fans and anyone with an appreciation for solid pop music/5(22).

4. Following a brief period of arty, self-conscious indulgence, Squeeze decided to return to the more straight-ahead pop of their classic period. Babylon and On strips back a bit and, although the return is a welcomed one, much of the material misses the mark, and the move seems a little forced. 8. Not a bad CD/Album from the group in the late '80s. I got it at a good price looking around at a used CD/Book/DVD business and paid $ for it. Look around and you may get a great deal on it as well. Only successful song on the album, radio wise, was "HOURGLASS", which was played quite a bit on the radio waves during that year, '87/'/5(18).

Jul 21,  · Squeeze's worst albums are generally the ones where the experimentation goes wrong, though I too would place Babylon & On near the bottom, though above 'Squeeze', 'Domino' and 'Difford & Tilbrook'. Strangely, I would place 'Sweets From A Stranger' above it despite having some heroic misfires - and of course, some great material.
